In the center of Europe, Lignano Sabbiadoro rises on the border with Veneto on a peninsula designed by the mouth of the Tagliamento river and the ancient weaving of the Adriatic currents, between the open sea and the Marano Lagoon, in the northernmost arc of the Gulf of Venice.
Eight kilometers of fine sand face the sea (Blue Flag) and the lush and fresh pine forest that partly covers the peninsula
The rich Lignano's vegetation is characterized by the presence of native species or species that have long been present on the peninsula: rows of holm oaks on the seafront, black pines, domestic pines or pine nuts, limes, Siberian elms, birches, plane trees, horse chestnuts. Considerably interesting is the maintenance in the urban fabric of large oak trees, evidence of an aspect of the environment that has now disappeared. Here lived once Ernest Hemingway who has a park entitled in the city.
